Jason Lovvorn

     

   Jason Lovvorn was born in Marietta, Georgia in 1969.  He grew up in the much more rural Woodland, Alabama and eventually attended the University of Alabama on several academic scholarships.  There, he double-majored in English and history and minored in Spanish.  Jason graduated Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude in 1992 and went on to study English literature at the University of Virginia.

   He earned his M.A. from Virginia in 1996 and moved to Mobile, Alabama where he taught writing and literature classes at the University of South Alabama and Spring Hill College for three years.  Presently, he is studying Renaissance literature and working on his Ph.D. at Vanderbilt University.  In addition to his academic pursuits, Jason has a black belt in Shito-ryu karate and is a skilled carpenter.
